Lee: "Enhancing the presentation of multimedia
using extracted semantics"
Abstract: Presenting multimedia can take advantage of content analysis technologies, which are typically used to automatically index and structure large archives of image/video data. The results of these same analysis techniques can be used to enhance the presentation of selections from archives, enabling efficient and easy browsing and searching. By designing proof-of-concept applications, in the form of prototypes, before the underlying technology becomes more reliable, we position ourselves at a vantage point where we can envisage the possible usages of such systems anddetails of interaction issues, and feed the insights back to the technology development stage, informing and guiding its technology direction. We illustrate some example applications and discuss the usefulness of this approach. In addition we discuss the limitations of how content-based semantics can be used at the user interface and discuss future directions of research. |
